Cogne-Breuil/Cervinia-Plateau Rosa
From Cogne to Aosta and then, along the n° 26 main road, passing through Quart, where you can admire the X cy. castle, Nus, with its castle dating back to the year 1500, built on the ruins of an ancient manor. From here, you can go to Fenis, where there is the most famous castle of the Aosta Valley, dating back to XI cy. Continuing along the main road, you reach Chambave, a famous village for its vineyards;Châtillon, the following village, was quite important during the Roman and the medieval ages. On the otherside of the Valley, you can see the XII cy. Ussel castle. From Châtillon up to the Valtournenche, whose Antey-St.André is the first village; from here, the Cervino mountain is entirely visible. The way continues to Buisson, where the Chamois' cableway starts; this is the only village in the Aosta Valley having a city hall but not a carriageable road. The following place is Valtournenche (1528m), where you can visit the beautiful square of the Guides, characterized by the commemorative plaques in the memory of the Cervino history's most famous persons.
Le CervinMoreover, shortly to Breuil/Cervinia (2045m), a big international ski resort. Just upper, there is the cableway's station of departure to the Plateau Rosa. The first part goes to Plan Maison (2561m), and from here it is already possible to see the pyramidal Cervino mountain. The second part reaches Cime Bianche (2916m), and the last one goes to the Plateau Rosa (3480m). Here, a wide view over almost the whole Valley is possible and also over the important "4000" of the Wallon.Anyway, especially the Cervino mountain will strike the eye, with its arduous shapes, like the mountains drawn by children.
